Overview

This role is the go-to person for all technical aspects of software development and is comfortable advising and executing on all aspects of software development, from coding practices, to environments, to code reviews, to architectural design.

Although there is no direct managerial responsibility, this role is an authority for all things technical. The successful candidate will be strategic and forward-thinking on moving this company and its products forward. You will be a constant learner, looking and evaluating new technologies, and becoming intimately familiar with our current technology stack. You are naturally curious and like to deep dive into code, technologies, and problems. Working in an agile environment, you will also be able to change direction quickly when needed.

You will be expected to support and resolve issues escalated by customers quickly and efficiently, as well as translate the customer business requirements to engineering tasks. At times you will be asked to serve as a mentor for more junior engineers in your team.

Major Duties & Responsibilities
  • Accountable for the design and development of effective software that meets complex, strategic business needs for immediate team and broader Salucro.
  • Heavily involved in successful design, coding, and validation of development tasks.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on technical projects of varying size and scale.
  • Mentor and provide technical knowledge and insight to peers and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with the QA group to ensure the team’s approach to testing is fit for purpose and meets the needs of the organization.
  • Ensure successful integration of the software with monitoring, support tools, and release pipelines.
  • Review and provide constructive feedback on others’ code to aid in team development and improvement and to ensure the team’s software works well in its operating environment.
  • Ensure that the team’s technical product documentation is always complete, accurate and coherent.
  • Ensure troubleshooting and resolution of issues throughout the product life cycle including out of hours support for incident resolution.
  • Work with other technical leaders in the broader organization to define, document and distribute best practice and standards.
  • Define, lead, and encourage continuous improvement of the team’s delivery and development processes.
  • Work with 3rd Party vendors where necessary providing evaluation, direction, support, and documentation.
  • Learn and become a SME on new technologies and keep abreast of existing technologies and help introduce them where appropriate.
  • Work closely with the DevOps group to implement and execute release tools and best practices.
  • Work closely with development teams both locally and overseas.
  • Be a self-starter capable of investigating, initiating, and completing tasks with little direction.
Skills, Experience, & Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4-8 years of previous hands-on development experience in either Golang or PHP, with a strong preference for working knowledge of both.
  • Proven hand-on experience with JS/React.
  • Proven experience working with databases with a preference to AWS based Dbs.
  • Experience working in a cloud-based environment, preferably AWS.
  • Proven experience working with microservices based applications.
  • 2-4 years in a technical lead or team lead role in an agile/scrum environment.
  • Experience in related scripting technologies, primarily bash.
  • Strong experience working in a continuous integration environment with a solid working knowledge of Git, Jenkins and other integration tools.
  • Significant experience working and operating in a Docker based environment.
  • Experience with standards and protocols related to the healthcare and finance industries.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills are a must.
